Anachronia, collectively, is an amalgamation of several different genres that are more or less contained in various zones. Each character starts in a zone of his/her choice & can accumulate skills, experience, items, wealth & reknown specific to that zone. Some of these accomplishments can be used or augmented in other zones, most cannot. Most technological items & skills have limited or nonexistent utility outside of the zone they were obtained because the required support infrastructure doesn’t exist. eg. Even if you had the requisite time machine to travel to 18th century England, it would still be impossible to use a cell phone due to the lack of cell phone towers. Any apps on the phone not requiring communication would continue to work until the phone battery ran down. The simpler, less technological skills tend to be the most portable, such as martial arts, hunting, or carpentry. Therefore, characters beginning in a more primitive or austere zone can potentially play more of the game over their lifespan.
Each wiki zone page has a brief description of what technologies, foes, & vices might be expected to be encountered/enjoyed within, as well as a list of what types of skills and abilities that are impaired or unusable.
